Tachyarrhythmia is an abnormally fast heart rate (usually 100 to 400 beats in either the upper heart chambers (atrial fibrillation) or lower heart chambers (ventricular fibrillation).
Diagnostic tests by a heart rhythm specialist (such as an electrophysiologist) will clarify the kind of tachyarrhythmia and resulting treatment.
Treatment for a fast heart rhythm (tachyarrhythmia) depends on whether the fast heart rhythm is in the upper heart chambers (atrial tachyarrhythmia) or lower heart chambers (ventricular tachyarrhythmia).
- Atrial tachyarrhythmia
- Ventricular fibrillation
