A Stethoscope is an instrument used to magnify sounds that are generated from within the body! Some of the organs and areas of the body for which a stethoscope can be used to diagnose illness and problems are the following:

Arteries (blood pressure)
Consider the following parts and types of Stethoscopes:
Bell (cup shaped part at the end of the tubbing)
Diaphragm (flat part at the end of the tubing with plast drum-like covering)
Tubing (transmits sound from the diaphragm to the earpieces)
Earpieces (fit into the ears to allow magnified sound to be heard)
