False pregnancy , also known as pseudopregnancy or pseudocyesis, is a condition that mimics pregnancy. According to the U.S. NIH CRISP thesaurus, false pregnancy is the absence of menses accompanied by other signs of pregnancy without conception, and may be due to psychogenic factors, abdominal neoplasia, or a hormonal disorder.
It may be accompanied by an enlarged uterus, cessation of menstrual periods, morning sickness, and lactation.
